Workplace Wellness Programs: Current Practices and Future Outlook
WCBC’s Workplace Wellness Survey was conducted in January 2025 and included data from 73 organizations across Canada. The survey examined both the successes and challenges of workplace wellness programs, highlighting the barriers that may prevent organizations from implementing such initiatives.

- Workplace Wellness Programs Are Common but
Evolving: 75% of organizations have a formal wellness
program. While many programs are well-established, 82%
of organizations believe their wellness initiatives are still
evolving to meet workforce needs. - Spending Accounts Are Widely Used: 81% of
organizations offer spending accounts as part of their
wellness programs, typically providing Health Spending
Accounts (HSA) and Wellness/Lifestyle Accounts. - Most Popular Non-Spending Wellness Initiatives
include:
• Gym memberships
• Fitness equipment
• Mental health education

- Challenges Exist in Measuring Effectiveness: While
73% of organizations consider their programs effective,
only 24% report measurable improvements in employee
satisfaction, health, or productivity. - Future Trends Focus on Holistic Well-Being:
Organizations plan to prioritize mental health, work-life
balance, and financial wellness, in addition to traditional
physical health initiatives.
