Research Project: COVID 19- HR Impacts and Responses

Since the announcement in early 2020 of the COVID-19 global pandemic Canadian organizations have tried to mitigate COVID-19’s impact on operations by adapting working conditions, permanently or temporarily laying off employees, changing compensation plans or applying to government support programs.

Across Canada as regions begin the phased ‘re-opening’ of their economies, employers are now faced with the challenge of planning and budgeting for operations in the “new normal” which is expected to persist until a vaccine is found.

This research project covers:

  • changes companies have made due to COVID-19 (salaries, bonuses, paid time off, group benefits, retirement plans etc.);
  • strategies used in the gradual return to normal (remote working, workspace re-configuration, reduced hours etc.); and
  • future plans (salary increases, preparedness for a second wave etc
